Insanity 101

One of the facebook groups to which is I belong is for Marines only. Active duty or formerly active duty(there is no such thing as an ex-Marine). It is normally a decent group to shoot the bull with or they can be counted on to add some interesting stories to my news feed. It is generally lighthearted and fraternal. It was yesterday though, as I was preparing to jet off to work, that sheer lunacy, via this group erupted and set my face in a sneer that lasted the rest of the day. My coworkers were discomfited, to say the least.

It started with this...

So-and-so (a woman Marine) shared (a friend's) photo.

Hey Massachusetts brothers... Any takers?

 So, to be clear, the woman Marine (WM) is asking for a male Marine to come and kick this guys ass.

The response was pretty typical. A lot of empty threats directed at this guy...much like the first comment you can see in the above picture. Some may have been serious, with one Marine stating, "I am 35 minutes away." Get some.

I did do some research on this and it does seem to be legit. I still have some doubts though, because internet. Either way, this event showcases so very much of what is entirely wrong with this country and these times. The sheer lunacy and hypocrisy is stifling and mind boggling. I am too jaded to get mad anymore, I laugh cynically, shake my head and start composing my next blog entry or article.

Hypocrisy

On that same Marines only page, the hot topic of late, has been women in the infantry. As you may know, complete integration of the sexes in all military occupational specialties (MOS), has been mandated by the administration by 2016. Grist indeed for a page like this. A few of us have questioned/mocked/sneered at this idea, but most of these Marines support the idea and continually point out how the WMs that they worked with, were fine Marines, did their job, yadda, yadda, yadda. Shouts of encouragement can be heard from the men...basically, "You go girl!"

Ok. Fine. Here is their chance to prove that they have what it takes. Hey! WM that put the call out on this...go kick his ass yourself. You women are all about equality, right? Funny how this is always mandated and never proven. Instead of calling in the White Knight Brigade, do it yourself.

No Accountability

Scroll back up and take a close look at that douchebag. With all of those tats, he should have one on his forehead, in big bold letters- RED FLAG. But, this girl got all tingly and moist by this guy and paid the price of thinking with her vag, instead of her brain. Does that make her for even one moment realize just how stupid she was (is)? Oh, hell no!

"He has always been aggressive and abusive towards his girlfriends, as I have now found out." Riiiiight. You had not even one clue before this happened? That's funny, I thought I remember seeing that you confronted him about cheating? Isn't that what started all this? It seems that he is unemployed also...knock me over with a feather...How many red flags do you need?

Not buying it honey. YOU made a really terrible decision to hook up with this obvious loser.  Did he lay the pipe so good that you overlooked everything else? Time to grow up and get your priorities straight.

It would be bad enough if it was just the girl and her mother who refuse to hold themselves responsible. Large amounts of men enable this as well...

Here we see some random dude giving her a free pass and her mom making further excuse- "We just didn't know!" She is only 18 and with minimal life experience? Hey you dumb broad...guess what a mom, is for? Are you telling me, that you never met this guy, before he did this? You didn't see the red flags that your daughter was over looking? Your life experience is now in question, lady. By the way...where is her dad? Kicked to the curb long ago, because you got bored with him? A dad in this sorry episode, likely would have headed this whole thing off at the pass. But you know, men are worthless, unneeded...until someone needs their ass kicked or furniture needs moving.

Attention Whoring

This whole disgusting event gets even more putrid with all of the (successful) attention grabbing. Something really bad happened, so let's spread it all over the internet! It can't be quietly dealt with amongst family, friends and the court system, no, no...we should fan the flames and maybe even get some money out of this deal! I am not at all buying the sorry excuse the mom gives for her original post....she just wants people to know so that they can protect their daughters. Meanwhile, in reality, as the comments and 'likes' pile up, she uses this as validation for herself and her daughter's massive failure.

The Bottom Line

Some men just like beating women. Why? I don't know. Certainly, they need their ass kicked in turn and/or jail time. If some guy takes a baseball bat to this douche, would I care? Not even a little. 

However,it is beyond time to start using our heads for something besides a hat rack. This girl did not deserve to get beat half to death for questioning her boyfriends fidelity, but she obviously made the choice to hook up with a bad boy to begin with ergo; She does bear responsibility. Who knows what advice this girl got before this happened, but someone (I am looking at you mom) should have pointed out the obvious flaws with this guy before it turned into the latest viral story. Yes, you can judge a book by it's cover.
